How to get the most out of your reed diffuser

Reed diffusers provide a subtle but continuous scent without the use of flame or heat, making them ideal for the home and office. As well as being great for those with small children or pets.

BU diffusers are made with arguably the best 'eco-friendly' diffuser base available on the market. Allowing for a longer lasting and cleaner scent; which doesn’t have the metallic odour associated with other diffuser bases. They are also vegan and cruelty free.

Did you know that the location of your diffuser and warmth of the room (they aren't a fan of the cold) can make a difference to how the scent flows through your home? It can sometimes be a bit trial and error to find the perfect location. When trying to find that perfect spot, consider how you use each room - e.g sitting, sleeping - and place your diffuser accordingly.

Here are some tips for selecting the ideal location:

1. Size matters: Reed diffusers tend to get lost in big rooms. If placing in a large room with high ceilings I would recommend using more than one diffuser (of the same fragrance) and using all the reeds provided to maximise the scent. The more reeds used, the stronger the scent.

2. The more movement the better: Motion and movement in the room and air helps to circulate the scent. It’s a good idea to place in a high traffic area of the home/office.

3. Flipping Reeds: Reeds are the second most important factor in how well your reed diffuser performs. It is recommended to flip your reeds weekly. Turning your reeds regularly ensures that they stay saturated. The ends exposed to the air dry out over time, so turning them over helps start the process again.

4. Keep away from open windows: Avoid placing your diffuser near open windows. When air is flowing in and out, your fragrance oil will deplete quicker and lessen the strength of the scent.

5. Avoid radiators: Similar to above, the heat will make your fragrance oil evaporate much faster. It will however, also strengthen the smell. So you may wish to place here but just be aware that your diffuser is likely to finish quicker.

6. Place your diffusers at nose height (or slightly below). This will ensure you're catching those beautiful scents as they are being released from the reeds.

On average, our 100ml diffuser should last approximately 3 months. However, it’s lifespan can be affected by things such as central heating, air conditioning, open and closed doors and dehumidifiers to name a few.
